50+ women - Is age appropriate fashion still relevant?
You are over 50 and you are the first generation of women who has all access to every single trend, and you receive little to no judgement if you choose to wear any of those trends.
Society still dictates a bit of the rules, but for the most part, if you wanted to wear a body contouring, sexy lace trim corset high/low dress exposing lots of skin (picture Betsey Johnson), you will likely receive more positive re-enforcement from peers than negative opinions.
That is in part because the road has been paved by celebrities who are dismissing the traditional norms of the 'Golden Girl' era.
For example, J.Lo is 53 years old. She has always been a trailblazer in her years as a dancer, actress, singer and fashion icon. These days she is promoting the idea that women can still be sexy in their 50's.

In comparison Golden Girls' Blanche Devereaux was 51 years old when she starred in the first season of the show. Her character was not as wholesome as her co-stars, but her style was. She was more covered up, but her style still had some sass.
Both looks in their 50's are now accepted. Women are now encouraged to embrace their styles and be themselves. A healthy, contemporary approach to fashion thinking.
So whether your style is more refined like Dianne Keaton, (who stays true to her neck coverings and pant suits) or on trend like the ladies of Sex and the City, you should know that women 50+ are accepting and embracing anything that they value in fashion. That includes fabrics they like to feel on their skin, locally made fashion, loose fitting tops and dresses, tight fitting pants, and hats for every occasion.
